ABOUT LOPEZMAKEUP

LopezMakeup provides hair and makeup services for film/TV, print, fashion, editorial or for any event for private clients.

“Not only do I apply beauty makeup, but I apply Special Effects Makeup as well.”

WHAT LOPEZMAKEUP IS KNOWN FOR

“One of the most frequent applications I am asked to do is natural beauty makeup. I enhance the client’s features with subtle makeup. My motto is less is more. Covering a client’s face with heavy makeup not only makes them feel uncomfortable, but it hides the beauty they already have.”

HOW LOPEZMAKEUP GOT STARTED

“I landed my first gig one month after attending Makeup Designory. From there I became proactive in finding more clients to add to my roster. When you first start out as a freelance artist you must take any gig that comes your way, even if it’s unpaid. You never know who you can meet. I have met many producers, directors, and photographers through unpaid work that has led me to future paid work. I have worked with people from MTV, Nickelodeon, FOX, Comedy Central, and Beachbody from meeting clients through unpaid work.”

ADVICE FOR SOMEONE PURSUING THEIR DREAMS

“Be Proactive, Persistent, and Remain Confident. There are many times when you find yourself hitting a wall. Just stay focused on your dreams and keep moving. Work won’t come to you on a silver platter. You must pick up the phone and call potential clients, send out emails etc. Also follow up with your clients. You never know if they will need you for an upcoming project. Social Media is also a great way to advertise yourself.”

GREATEST INFLUENCE

“I have many artists who inspire me. In the Beauty industry two of my favorites are Bobbi Brown and Kevin Aucoin. Bobbi Brown is well known for always keeping makeup natural and beautiful which is also my philosophy. Kevin Acuoin was an amazing artist. He believed in helping people find the beauty within themselves. For Special Effects my top two artist are Rick Baker, and Ve Neill.  They have both worked on so many iconic movies that are still well known today.”

FAVORITE QUOTE

“I never dreamed about success I work for it” -Estee Lauder

FAVORITE PASTIME

“Practicing my craft as much as I can or sitting back and watching Netflix to wind down.”

BIGGEST CHALLENGE SHE’S EVER HAD TO OVERCOME

“My biggest challenge would have to be when I had to get 20 actors done in 15 minutes. It was a feature film I was working on and it was crunch time. I got the job done successfully.”

ADVICE TO YOUNGER SELF

“Get out of bed and get to work!”

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE FUTURE

“Bigger and better things. I practice a lot which makes me a better artist each day. I hope to have my own makeup line in the future as well.”
