WEDNESDAYS WITH WODLINE: The Follow Up
It’s been a month since I've launched my website! Yay! What a journey it has been!
I would like to say thank you to everyone who has shown their support and who has given me constructive feedback. I’ve learned so much during this journey.
For this month’s Wednesdays with Wodline, I wanted to share some advice for those who may have recently launched a new business.
STAY ENCOURAGED
Whether you just started a new business or non-profit organization, there will be days when you will feel discouraged, overwhelmed, tired and sometimes lonely. These past few weeks have been like that for me, but I know it’s only temporary.
What’s been helpful for me is writing in my prayer journal or spending time with my friends and family. It’s important to maintain a healthy balance between your work and personal life. Another thing that has helped me is reading my Spotlight Saturday blog posts of Millennials and Generation Xer’s who are pursuing and living their dreams. Working on these posts have been truly inspirational. If you haven’t already, be sure to read them! It is my hope they encourage you to stay the course and don’t give up.
ALWAYS CARRY YOUR BUSINESS CARDS WITH YOU.
Business or networking opportunities may come when you least expect it, so it’s important to always be prepared. Over the years, there have been many times where I’ve left them at home and regretted it. In my opinion, I showed the prospective client or business associate I wasn’t serious about building my clientele or network.

DO NOT DISCUSS YOUR FEES ON THE SPOT
There have been countless occasions where prospective clients would approach me after an event has ended, asking me how much I would charge them for their specific event. If you quote them a price without getting all the details, I promise you, that client may hold you to it.
The best advice I can give is to hand them your business card so they can contact you to schedule an initial consultation. The initial consultation will give you the opportunity to gather all the necessary information needed to provide the prospective client with the best quote for your services.
These were just a few of the things I wanted to share with you today. I look forward to sharing more with you soon. Until then, I leave you with this quote:
